These two movies are the same. The only difference is that they appear on 2 different sites and the fact that the music has been changed.
The first version has a techno musical numer attached to it. It reminds me a lot of the game MORTAL KOMBAT.
The second version has music by a band I came to know (and love) thanks to this video. The music is performed by Kaizer's Orchestra. The musical piece moves with the speed of the animation, enhancing it the whole experience; it adds to the irony.
I personally LOVE the second version of animation/music combo. I think partly its due to the fact that the music is not popularized and you don't link it in your mind to other projects (or games).
Techno Version 1 brought to you by atomfilms.com
Orchestra Version 2 brought to you by albinoblacksheep.com
And for your general viewing pleasures, the following:

An Award Winning Clip... Must See
More from Tim Hittle
A Strange Yet BEAUTIFUL Film... a Must See
A Musical Love Story... I am In Love With This One!!!
Well, that should keep you all busy. Let me know what you think of any of them.

Frustrated
It is extreamly hard to find basic equiment for clay animation in the Rochester area. I have rigged things together in an effort to move on with creating my characters.
Also, I am still waiting on my order of 2 blocks of super duper awesome clay. This means that my initial character is going to be made of all black clay. I am not sure what that will mean for the details but I guess I have about a week or so after the mini crit with Jay, to rectify the problem.
I will have pics of my SLOW progress.
Oh! My table is still in pieces and I hope that tomorrow (actually that will be later today) I can come in and put it all together and start creating the stage for my little evil creation.

Not Everything on Youtube is Garbage
Came across this on YouTube. According to their myspace page, this cartoon was made by a talented, female, twin sister, duo. Took them a year to hand draw and complete. Looks great!
Not a real big surprise that their inspiration is my all time favorite, Mr. TIM BURTON!
Also found this creepy little re-mix of Strawberry Fields... lots to think about... enjoy! (I don't really know much about the artist... yet).

Hide and Seek
Finding anything on clay animation in the book stores is like searching for a needle in a hay stack. Most of the book on polymer clay are for making beads and jewelry. Nothing on creating moving little things.
Luckily I did find what is turning out to be a great $40 investment that I found in the computer programing section.
Stop Motion by Susannah Shaw
It has very practical step by step advise. Anything from types of film available (like Super 8, 16mm, etc) to companies that sell equipment/supplies (although many places don't have websites) and even a section on film festivals around the world.

Because I work at Night...
... i looked online for quotes about pessimism. Enjoy!
Antonio Gramsci:
“I'm a pessimist because of intelligence, but an optimist because of will”
G. B. Stern:
“Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute.”
Thomas Hardy:
“Pessimism is, in brief, playing the sure game. You cannot lose at it; you may gain. It is the only view of life in which you can never be disappointed. Having reckoned what to do in the worst possible circumstances, when better arise, as they may, life becomes child's play.”
George F. Will:
“Pessimism is as American as apple pie-frozen apple pie with a slice of processed cheese.”
Roberto Rossellini:
I am not a pessimist; to perceive evil where it exists is, in my opinion, a form of optimism.
Don Marquis:
A pessimist is a person who has had to listen to too many optimists.
Jonathan Swift:
"Happiness is the perpetual possession of being well deceived."
Janeane Garofalo:
I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half- empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth.
And My Favorite One of All:
Mark Twain:
“The man who is a pessimist before forty-eight knows too much; if he is an optimist after it he knows too little”
Antonio Gramsci:

GAH! This Funeral is Killing Me...
Over the summer I started with an idea for a documentary about these two sisters. One of them was dying from cancer.
Well, I am sad to say that Linda passed away a week ago.
Her sisters are having a memorial in her memory this Saturday and have requested a DVD of the documentary.
The thing is, that i didn't really have that much footage. Linda had throat cancer and had a very hard time talking and filming was kept to a minimum. I rather doubt I have enough info for a documentary. However, I told the sister that I will sit down and look over the footage and try to put something together.
I am always nervous about showing work that involves dead people that were recently alive.
I have about a day to do this.
PS... Rest in Peace Linda, you will be very missed.

One Step Closer to World Domination
Spent the night demolishing old editing suite. A piece of stubborn partical board outsmarted me. Coming back tomorrow with more artilary.
Got some great feedback from KM.
I think I will be asking a very talented 13year old to write music for me.
Goals for next two weeks:
1. Clear out old editing suite and make it PERTY.
2. Design table to be used as my amazing set
3. Do minor welding work for custom camera stand
4. Create finalized screen play
5. Start detailed story board
6. Find lights for the claymation room (or it will be a very long and dark production)
7. Make detailed character drawings
8. Create armature (one of what will be many)
9. Find large amounts of new clay to mes with
10. Try not to burn the house down
Lets see how far I get...

NO MORE INSPIRATIONS!!!
Just watched the Mirror Mask (thanks Dave). It was amazing eye candy and UBER inspiring, perhaps a bit too inspiring. I dunno if I like the amount of inspiration I am now faced with.
The story line (although a bit slow at times) is very similar to Alice in Wonderland (which I enjoy) but the truly remarkable imagery is really what spoke to me. The movie also made me realize that the sky is the limit for the type of characters I can create and I am mostly limited by my imagination (and sculpting skill... or lack there of).
Anyway, I highly recommend Mirror Mask (PG rating is great for the whole family). If nothing else, watch it for the amazing visual effects.
And now time for bed...

Clay Makes It Better
Here are the little test characters I've been working on. They are pretty rough but I am trying to get the general idea and feel for the medium and what can be done with it.
Problems I've run into include (but are not limited to):
* Clay that is very soft and practically melts in the hand
* Clay with dyes that bleed
* Humidity effecting the stability of clay
* Building creatures without armatures (more on armatures later)
* Due to softness of clay, shaping, smoothing and refining creatures, is near to imposible
* Lack of proper supplies in the Rocheter area
Anyway, here are the creatures...
* The little crow was the first creature I made and by far the easiest. Notice the low quality in clay and the bleeding dye in the eyes.
* The rabbit's ears are too heavy and constantly fall and get bent out of shape due to humidity.
* The jester's face is made of better clay however, the size and lack of proper tools makes it hard to refine the features.
* The little monster also suffers from cheap clay syndrome and dye bleeding.

Inspired
In my endless search for clues and knowledge of anything to do with Polymer clay and clay animation, I somehow found myself viewing the following website and being completely blown away by the AMAZING work of this artist.
pixiwillow.com
If I can be 1/1000 as good as Michelle Bradshaw I'd be super happy.
Well, practice makes perfect.
Now I need $100 to invest in clay.

A sense of myself...
Is it better to be true to oneself and seem childish or seem mature while denying your own self?
... I'll sleep on it.
... I'll sleep on it.

“It is better to be hated for who you are, than to be loved for someone you are not.”
A bit ago, I had 2 people come up to me and tell me that they hate me... they don't really know me but they express a strong emotion such as hate. I suppose this post is my response to that.
"We hate some persons because we do not know them; and will not know them because we hate them." ~Charles Caleb Colton
"If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us." ~Herman Hesse
