If I want people to think that what I say/write is intelligent, I should first learn how to spell.
In retaliation to that statement and in contrast to the top self-deprecating suggestion, I have to mention my favorite cerebral linguist/philosopher/genius Noam Chomsky who stated/states that the purpose of language is communication and as long as the meaning is clear, the path to that meaning is irrelevant.
On a related note, I sure wish I knew Noam and his theories back in grade school. It would have made my argument that spelling is irrelevant, that much better and who knows, perhaps I would have gotten better grades in spelling.
